The Mountain Makins Festival in Morristown, TN at the Rose Center was held this past weekend. The Festival is a juried crafts event with crafters from all over the Southeast. We had everything from wood turning and wood carving to basket makers. Our Rose Center Quilters Guild makes a quilt every year which is given away at the close of the festival on Sunday afternoon. Our quilt this year was called High Five, which is an Atkinson Designs pattern, and was made from candy colored batiks and a tea-dyed background batik.
The Quilters Guild also published a cookbook this fall. We offered it for sale at the festival and the response was wonderful. I've attached a photo of the cover to this posting. Please contact me at kathycquilts@hughes.net if you're interested in purchasing a copy. The suggested donation is $9.00, and the postage is $3.50. A favorite recipe is shown below. I made it for lunch for my quilting group (Stitch 'n Bitch) last Friday, and it was a huge hit!!
The recipe:
Hot Chicken Salad
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
2 T. butter
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 can cream of chicken soup
3 dashes Tabasco sauce
1 cup Chinese noodles
1/2 cup cashews
2 cups cooked, chopped chicken
Saute onions and celery in butter. Mix other ingredients, except noodles and cashews, and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour into buttered casserole dish and bake 30 minutes at 350. Add noodles and cashews for last 10 minutes of baking.
